This is the the official newsletter for Steering Wheel Ministries. The text is posted here just as it went out in "snail mail". Each month's newsletter is posted around the 15th of the month. If you would like to receive the "snail mail" issue of our monthly newsletter at home just email us your name and address.

Newsletter for:
May 2008

I know you just received our April newsletter since it got out late, and now this month's newsletter has to be early because we cannot get the newsletter to the Post Office while we are in California holding our annual Trucker's Days Of Jubilee. So, please forgive me for sending two newsletters so close together.

Steering Wheel Ministries got involved on April 11 when Steve came into the mini-chapel at Love's truck stop in Roseburg needing someone to talk to and pray with. See, his wife, Mary, had a stroke and the diagnosis was that for the rest of her life she would need twenty-four hour nursing care and she would never be able to talk again. As if this wasn't bad enough Mary was in a rehab center in a town far off any regular trucking route so when I prayed with Steve we prayed that his company would be able to get him a load that would take him either to or through where Mary was so he could see her again, and of course we prayed for her healing and left it in the Lord's hands.

On May 2 Chaplain Russ was at the chapel when Steve came in all excited. Russ got Steve on the phone with me so he could tell me that he got the load we prayed for and when he got there Mary was ready to go back on the truck with him. Yes, she is that much better that she can be on the truck with her husband and she is talking some. Please pray with us that she will be completely healed soon.

Chris came to the chapel service at Rice Hill and as we finished the praise and worship Chris continued to stand with his face turned upwards, his eyes closed and with tears he was quietly praying. I quietly waited and when he sat down he said that he had just given his heart back to the Lord! PRAISE THE LORD!!! This was a driver who was making excuses for not coming to the service when I invited him.

Chaplain Glenn reports nearly every week someone coming to or back to the Lord in the chapel service in Coachella, CA at the TA, and Chaplain Doug is reporting that after being at the Pilot at Chemult, OR for more than a year drivers are now coming to the service. We are not a team that gives up just because drivers don't come or anything else that happens, not even the lack of funds. God has called us and we hang in there no matter what. We lift up the name of Jesus and he keeps His promise and draws people to Himself, John 12:32.

As you read this newsletter we are holding the nightly revival services at Pollard Flat. Please be in prayer for this great outreach. Pray for those who have a part in each service. Pray that people will come to the services and that they will be touched by the Holy Spirit and pray that the weather will be good.

Please understand that because you gave and because you prayed for Steering Wheel Ministries you had a part in the miracle with Steve and Mary, and you had a part in Chris coming back to the Lord and in each salvation, rededication and other touch from the Lord that Glenn and the rest of us see each week in our respective truck stops. I never have the space or words to tell you about all the exciting things that we see out here so I just do my best to tell you what the Lord has me tell you each month. Thank you for giving to the Lord.

With our first Mobile Chapel coming to completion and all the added expenses all through the ministry - to date we have an increase of nearly $800 in expenses each month and donations have been going down - I am asking you to pray that God will raise up more people, and businesses to support His work here at Steering Wheel Ministries.

The Mobile Chapel is coming along nicely. We had a small gift that really helped get some of what was needed so we know the rest is coming. You can see pictures on our web site. Once again, on behalf of the drivers, thank you for giving to the Lord.

In Christ's service,
Merwin Rhoades
Chaplain/President
