Chapel services were well attended and the attendance was about normal when you compare them to past years.

jubilee-2009-17.JPG
As always Saturday is Trucker's Appreciation Day for Trucker's Days Of Jubilee.

Ron and Kathy Green of Reflections In Love Ministries were with us again this year. Ron and Kathy are a great part of our music when they are able to be with us which is most every year.

jubilee-2009-31.JPG
John McCann is a truck driver, songwriter and Worship Leader at his church. John led the praise and worship for our services this year here at Pollard Flat besides singing for the Trucker's Appreciation Day.

jubilee-2009-36.JPG
The Pierces are with us most evey year for Trucker's Appreciation Day. They are a great blessing to every one who comes by with their music and friendly personalities.

jubilee-2009-39.JPG
This was the first year for No Turning Back Ministries to be with us. Everyone loved them, their music and every part of their ministry.

jubilee-2009-23.JPG
Bruce is our soundman at every Jubilee we do where every we are. Bruce takes his job seriously because he knows that this is for the Lord Jesus Christ.

jubilee-2009-27.JPG
jubilee-2009-29.JPG
Drivers are coming to Trucker's Appreciation Day where they get free hamburgers and they listen to live music by those listed above. So the drivers receive free food for their body and free food for their soul at the same time.

jubilee-2009-26.JPG
We discovered that John McCann is not only good at singing and teaching God's Word, he is also good at grilling hamburgers.

jubilee-2009-40.JPG
Trucker's Appreciation Day ended once again with a campfire where we had great fellowship while everyone roasted hotdogs and made some mores.

Trucker's Days Of Jubilee always ends with the Sunday morning Worship Service. We take this opportunity to express our great appreciation to the Harsh family, owners of Pollard Flat USA, for their hospitality again this year.

It is always a lot more work than anyone can imagine to put this outreach but even one soul who comes to Christ for salvation is worth it all.

If you missed being with us this year you missed a great time of refreshing and feasting on God's Word. Every day in every service and on Saturday during the Trucker's Appreciation Day program the presence of the Holy Spirit was felt. Every year is better than previous years, so plan now for May 19 - 23, 2010 unless Jesus comes back and then next year in Heaven if you are saved. Please make sure you are. If you have any questions about your salvation and relationship with Jesus Christ please call us at (541) 643-1989.

God brought us music that lifted up the name of Jesus Christ through, Cheryl, Gilbert, Joanna and teaching from Merwin and Don. Once again Bruce, our sound tech did a great job of making everyone sound good.

We saw a number of drivers stop by that far exceeded past Afternoon's of Jubilees. We also saw more drivers who stayed for most if not the entire time. They sat around and had a great time of fellowhip and ended the day by praying for each other.

Steering Wheel Ministries thanks all those, pictured and not pictured, who had a part in this Trucker's Afternoon Of Jubilee.

afternoonjubilee-8-2008.JPG
As we do every time at Rice Hill we set up next door to the porn shop. Even though this time was on the Labor Day holiday weekend we served more drivers than we ever have there. We served about 18 drivers physical food by having free hamburgers and watermelon and best of all we served spiritual food from the Word of God. We gave away 31 gift bags as we walked around the lot and at the fuel islands. These bags contained the Gospel Of John, the Christian Radio Guide, a truck stop directory that is also a directory for chapel locations, a tract telling why and how to get saved and other Gospel booklets as well as Gospel music and teaching CDs.

Once again we had a great line up of music:
* Larry and Linda Widener and their band, "Simply His", were with us. They brought some very good and lively Gospel music. Their music brought drivers over as soon as they started playing.
* Part of the worship team from First Baptist Church in Roseburg, OR were also with us. This was the second time for them to be with us.
* Bruce Curren is our sound man for our outreaches like this. We thank Bruce for all his hard work in keeping everything sounding good.

Afternoon Of Jubilee
at Chemult Pilot, on Hwy 97 in Oregon
September 27, 2008

This was our second Truckers Afternoon Of Jubilee at Chemult.

5th-wheel-3a.jpg
Steering Wheel Ministries was blessed with the donation of this 5th-wheel travel trailer just two and a half weeks before Merwin and Debbie needed to make this trip to Chemult for this Jubilee. It is a great gift and as a ministry we are truly blessed because this gives a place to eat and sleep thus saving a lot of money. More ministry trips will now be able to be made because of this gift. The picture was taken at the back of the Pilot truck stop lot at Chemult, OR. Look close at the picture and you can see the tent poles sticking up along side the cab. That is the only way we can get them along with us for now.

Bob, Manager of Subway there at Pilot, donated a 6-foot sub for the Jubilee. Pictured here are Bob and his wife Sherry as they bring the 6-foot sub to the Jubilee.
With this sub, fresh grilled hamburgers, chili, and potato and macaroni salads we had plenty of food.

A great time in the Lord as, pictured from top down, David Kirby, David and Vicki Rice and Steve Leaton ministered in music. Merwin Rhoades, last pictured, ministered from the Word Of God. Not pictured this time is our soundman, Bruce Curren. Things would not sound right without him. Thanks Bruce for your sacrifice for the Lord Jesus Christ.

afternoonjubilee-chemult-2008-26.JPG
In the set up and take down and all through the day we had great help. Both in setting up and in taking down went twice as fast because of all the help from Chemult Christian Center. Thanks to everyone for their help.

You will not want to miss the next Trucker's Afternoon Of Jubilee on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 2:00 'till 6:00 right here at the Pilot truck stop in Chemult on Hwy 97 in Oregon.

A good number of people turned out to help us put together 542 of the total 554 Gospel cookie packages we ended up with. These are home made cookies.

christmas-2008-7.JPG
A truck driver just received his Christmas present of Gospel cookies. Again this year we had a number of drivers telling us that we gave them the only Christmas present they received this year at Rice Hill Pilot at I-5 Exit 148 in Oregon.

Norma, a Christmas Day volunteer, is going to give a couple of Gospel cookie packages to some drivers at Love's truck stop in Roseburg, OR. Norma wrote: "This has been a divine appointment to meet drivers and tourists who came into the store. It's good to get out of one's self and just love God's children with these lovely items. Giving Jesus' love to all we meet."

christmas-2008-10.JPG
Greg and Wendy take two time slots every year because they love getting out here. Greg, pictured above as he gives a driver his gift, wrote:
"10:00 - 12:00 - A driver came in and as we talked he shared that he was considering Christianity, but was not sure yet. He said he had prayed that if he was to accept Christ that someone would give him a Bible. He made his choice as he was given a Bible today!
12:00 - 2:00 - Had a wonderful opportunity to just talk with a Christian trucking team - husband and wife. I'm not sure which of us was more blessed."

christmas-2008-17.JPG
Merwin Rhoades, president of Steering Wheel Ministries, gave a Gospel cookie package to a driver and was able to pray with the driver before he had to get back on the road.

Steering Wheel Ministries has been in the truck stops on Christmas Day every year since 1995. We put 8 to 10 homemade cookies in each package along with a note from Steering Wheel Ministries. After putting the lid in place we put a Gospel booklet and a tract on top which are held in place by a rubber band.

With the help of 12 area churches, including KGRV AM 700, on Christmas Day 2008 Steering Wheel Ministries gave away all 554 Gospel cookie packages between Rice Hill Pilot at I-5 Exit 148 and Love's at I-5 Exit 119. We had teams of volunteers taking two hour shifts starting at 8:00 Christmas morning until they were all gone that evening. We gave out the last package just after 6:30 at Rice Hill.

Now for the BIG PRAISE REPORT!!! The weather here in the Pacific Northwest being so we could all travel with ease was one miracle and here is the other: Merwin, president and chaplain of Steering Wheel Ministries, had all seven of the totes of Gospel cookie packages in the back of his pickup all ready for Rice Hill. Two days before Christmas he took down one of the totes to adjust things and discovered a large crack in the lid and over an inch of water in the bottom of the tote. We lost five of the Gospel cookie packages due to water. Merwin told Caleb, his grandson, that they were going to have to talk to his mother and grandma about making some more cookies to replace these packages. Almost immediately Merwin's phone rang and Shirley, an elderly lady, asked him if we had enough cookies or did we need some more. She goes to Vine Street Baptist Church in Roseburg, OR and had heard about the Christmas Day Gospel cookie packages on KGRV 700. That day God had spoke to her about making some cookies for us so she called KGRV and got our phone number. Merwin told her about our need and she made cookies so we could replace those we had lost. This told Merwin how much this Christmas Day homemade cookie ministry means to God, that even the loss of five packages meant something to Him. Shirley made all one kind of cookie so Debbie and Rebecca, Caleb's mother, each made another kind and we ended up replacing those five with an addition of 12 more packages bringing us to a total of 554 packages that were given out on Christmas Day.

We are pleased and blessed to be able to announce that another 114 Gospel cookie packages were given out at Pilot truck stop in Chemult, OR on Hwy. 97.
