A good number of people turned out to help us put together 542 of the total 554 Gospel cookie packages we ended up with. These are home made cookies.

A truck driver just received his Christmas present of Gospel cookies. Again this year we had a number of drivers telling us that we gave them the only Christmas present they received this year at Rice Hill Pilot at I-5 Exit 148 in Oregon.

A little boy is excited about the mystery gift box we gave him at Rice Hill Pilot in Oregon.

Norma, a Christmas Day volunteer, is going to give a couple of Gospel cookie packages to some drivers at Love's truck stop in Roseburg, OR. Norma wrote: "This has been a divine appointment to meet drivers and tourists who came into the store. It's good to get out of one's self and just love God's children with these lovely items. Giving Jesus' love to all we meet."

Greg and Wendy take two time slots every year because they love getting out here. Greg, pictured above as he gives a driver his gift, wrote:
"10:00 - 12:00 - A driver came in and as we talked he shared that he was considering Christianity, but was not sure yet. He said he had prayed that if he was to accept Christ that someone would give him a Bible. He made his choice as he was given a Bible today!
12:00 - 2:00 - Had a wonderful opportunity to just talk with a Christian trucking team - husband and wife. I'm not sure which of us was more blessed."

Merwin Rhoades, president of Steering Wheel Ministries, gave a Gospel cookie package to a driver and was able to pray with the driver before he had to get back on the road.
Steering Wheel Ministries has been in the truck stops on Christmas Day every year since 1995. We put 8 to 10 homemade cookies in each package along with a note from Steering Wheel Ministries. After putting the lid in place we put a Gospel booklet and a tract on top which are held in place by a rubber band.
With the help of 12 area churches, including KGRV AM 700, on Christmas Day 2008 Steering Wheel Ministries gave away all 554 Gospel cookie packages between Rice Hill Pilot at I-5 Exit 148 and Love's at I-5 Exit 119. We had teams of volunteers taking two hour shifts starting at 8:00 Christmas morning until they were all gone that evening. We gave out the last package just after 6:30 at Rice Hill.
Now for the BIG PRAISE REPORT!!! The weather here in the Pacific Northwest being so we could all travel with ease was one miracle and here is the other: Merwin, president and chaplain of Steering Wheel Ministries, had all seven of the totes of Gospel cookie packages in the back of his pickup all ready for Rice Hill. Two days before Christmas he took down one of the totes to adjust things and discovered a large crack in the lid and over an inch of water in the bottom of the tote. We lost five of the Gospel cookie packages due to water. Merwin told Caleb, his grandson, that they were going to have to talk to his mother and grandma about making some more cookies to replace these packages. Almost immediately Merwin's phone rang and Shirley, an elderly lady, asked him if we had enough cookies or did we need some more. She goes to Vine Street Baptist Church in Roseburg, OR and had heard about the Christmas Day Gospel cookie packages on KGRV 700. That day God had spoke to her about making some cookies for us so she called KGRV and got our phone number. Merwin told her about our need and she made cookies so we could replace those we had lost.
This told Merwin how much this Christmas Day homemade cookie ministry means to God, that even the loss of five packages meant something to Him. Shirley made all one kind of cookie so Debbie and Rebecca, Caleb's mother, each made another kind and we ended up replacing those five with an addition of 12 more packages bringing us to a total of 554 packages that were given out on Christmas Day.
We are pleased and blessed to be able to announce that another 114 Gospel cookie packages were given out at Pilot truck stop in Chemult, OR on Hwy. 97.
