Trucker's Days Of Jubilee
at Pollard Flat, California - north of Redding, CA
May 19-23, 2010

Revised report 5/25/10

jubilee-2010-8a.jpg
Set up and ready to go.

jubilee-2010-10a.jpg
Chaplain John McCann led us in Praise and Worship every service, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday night and Sunday morning.

jubilee-2010-15a.jpg
jubilee-2010-16a.jpg
On Thursday the staff took a little time out for a picnic to relax a little and get refreshed.

jubilee-2010-22a.jpg
Russ Goodwin, known as "The Singing Trucker" was with us from Southern California. Russ had a part in Merwin Johnson-Rhoades, (President and founder of Steering Wheel Ministries) getting saved when he sang in the service Merwin was saved in back in March 1985.

Driver's started coming on Saturday for the Trucker's Appreciation Day before we had the food completely ready.

jubilee-2010-34a.jpg
Russ Goodwin, The Singing Trucker sang during Trucker's Appreciation Day. For the song, "This Little Light Of Mine" he got one of the children up there to sing with him.

jubilee-2010-41a.jpg
The weather was good on Saturday in spite of what the weatherman had forecast and the drivers came.

The forecast was for rain and snow on Saturday and once again God showed everyone that man does not know as much as he thinks he knows because God changed the weather. We watched storm fronts coming right at Pollard Flat and they would go around us. Merwin got a sunburn because he forgot to put sunscreen on. The temperature was the coolest we may have ever had but the turnout was close to the same as last year and the number of drivers for the evening fire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows and make somores was at least 3 to 4 times as many as we have ever had. PRAISE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!!!

jubilee-2010-42a.jpg
jubilee-2010-43a.jpg
As we do every year, we ended with roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and making s'mores. There was at least 3 to 4 times as many drivers for this evening event as we have ever had.

We were able to pray with some drivers and talked to several for an extended time. One driver said about Saturday's activities, "It doesn't get any better than this". In reference to the temperature, some said they would rather it be cooler like this than 105 or more like it was the last two years.

Trucker's Days Of Jubilee always ends with the Sunday morning Worship Service.

We take this opportunity to express our great appreciation to the Harsh family, owners of Pollard Flat USA, for their hospitality again this year.

It is always a lot more work than anyone can imagine to put on this outreach but even one soul who comes to Christ for salvation is worth it all.

If you missed being with us this year you missed a great time of refreshing and feasting on God's Word. Every day in every service and on Saturday during the Trucker's Appreciation Day program the presence of the Holy Spirit was felt. Every year is better than previous years, so plan now for May 18 - 22, 2011 unless Jesus comes back and then next year in Heaven if you are saved. Please make sure you are. If you have any questions about your salvation and/or your relationship with Jesus Christ please call us at (541) 643-1989.

We offered the drivers free food for the body, (we had hamburgers, watermellon and chocolate cake) and free food from God's Word by way of song and teaching.

Larry and Linda Widener and their band, "Simply His", were with us again. The Holy Spirit uses them mightily and the drivers love them.

Our volunteer chaplain, Jim Stepp and his wife, Mary, also sang songs of praise and worship to our Lord Jesus Christ. Both times Jim and Mary sang Merwin Rhoades followed them by teaching the salvation message from God's Word.

Afternoon Of Jubilee
at Chemult Pilot, on Hwy 97 in Oregon
July 18, 2009

This was our third Truckers Afternoon Of Jubilee at Chemult.

afternoonjubilee-chemult-july2009-2.JPG
afternoonjubilee-chemult-july2009-3.JPG
We set up right behind the County Library and this time a couple from the one and only church in the area, set up there Coney Island Hot Dog stand next to our food service tent so I guess you can say we had a "food court" this time. The hot dogs, hamburgers and all food was FREE. Coney Island Hot Dogs were free, they did accept donations for Steering Wheel Ministries and said that God blesses them for their gifts to Him - and that He does!

Pictured are two of the four singers/groups we had with us. Great ministry was done and we served more people at this Afternoon Of Jubilee than we have at any previous Afternoon Of Jubilee.

The day after Trucker's Afternoon Of Jubilee the Sunday morning service was attended by two drivers who had been wondering where they were going to attend church when they saw our signs and one was invited by Chaplain Doug, pictured to the right.

Once again we gave away free food - hamburgers and watermelon - and God's Word through teaching and music. As always at this truck stop we set up between the fuel islands and the porn shop. This time we were blessed to be able to lead one driver to the Lord and another was very close to accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord but had to had to sort out what he had known and the truth he had just learned. 30 drivers, including the two drivers mentioned, received a gift bag that contained Gospel booklets and CDs, as well as a Christian Radio Guide and a truck stop directory that tells where the chapel services are for the United States and Canada.

Merwin and Debbie had to get their picture with Faith and Stephanie, their two youngest of nine grandchildren. Faith was doing all she could to help with the Jubilee and had great fun helping grandma and grandpa.

* Larry and Linda Widener and their band, "Simply His", were with us. They brought some very good and lively Gospel music.
* Anthony and Jacky Rivas and their band, "No Turning Back" was also with us. Besides their music Anthony also brought us the Word of God and challenged drivers out there to accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord.
* God always blesses us with anointed musicians but these bands have a special anointing and a great ministry was done here today.

Two of the teams who came to help give out these Gospel cookie packages to the drivers on Christmas Day. We had volunteers from 6 different churches in the Roseburg, Oregon area helping in two-hour time slots at both truck stops. We started at 8:00 in the morning and the last package was given away at 8:20 that evening.

A driver being given his Christmas present - the Gospel cookie package. These are all homemade cookies with a Gospel booklet on top.

Steering Wheel Ministries has been in the truck stops on Christmas Day every year since 1995. We put 8 to 12 homemade cookies in each package along with a note from Steering Wheel Ministries. After putting the lid in place we put a Gospel booklet on top which is held in place by a rubber band.

With the help of 16 area churches, plus KGRV AM 700, on Christmas Day 2009 Steering Wheel Ministries gave away all 756 Gospel cookie packages between Rice Hill Pilot at I-5 Exit 148 and Love's at I-5 Exit 119. We had teams of volunteers from 6 churches taking two hour shifts starting at 8:00 Christmas morning until they were all gone that evening. We gave out the last package just at 8:20 at Rice Hill.

"Thanks for the cookies!
My husband and I were given one of your packets when we stopped in at Rice Hill Pilot on Christmas day. What a treat it was . . . . . a bright spot on our journey! We are both born again Christians and are so impressed with Steering Wheel Ministry's outreach...... God will surely continue to use such a ministry to touch the heart of other travelers."
